Rulmeca and the environment
Rulmeca has always paid particular attention to the level of environmental sustainability and protection of the territory. This parameter concerns all corporate actions and initiatives aimed at contrasting environmental problems such as pollution, emissions of carbon dioxide, climate change or waste of natural resources. In other words, it embraces all the investments and best practices that our company carries out in order to minimize its environmental impact as much as possible.
Rulmeca eco-friendly investments
Despite environmental protection has always been part of Rulmeca values and mission, now green investments are increasing and getting more tangible. Here follow two representative projects which prove our real commitment and pave the way for a more and more sustainable company.
Electric bikes for a sustainable mobility
Rulmeca sustainable responsibility starts from people, actually from all collaborators. For this purpose, our company has joined WHP (Workplaces that Promote Health) project in order to encourage and make employees actively participate in the adoption of positive behaviors. Among good conducts people can take in their everyday life to personally contribute to a green future, there’s sustainable mobility. Hence, on the strength of its always innovative approach, the Italian company Rulli Rulmeca S.p.a. (Almè, Bergamo) started providing its employees with electric bikes two years ago. Now, given that this initiative has achieved resounding success, the company has decided to increase the number of e-bikes available for its collaborators. As is known, besides being part of a healthy life style, using electric bikes is a choice to the benefit of air quality and livability of our cities because it helps reducing emissions which are responsible for air pollution and climate change in the long run.
Solar panels for a sustainable energy
The innovative and green spirits of our company also merge together in the choice of eco-friendly technologies which have zero environmental impact and help reducing the waste of natural resources for corporate buildings as well. In particular, Rulmeca Group is gradually converting to the use of alternative energy sources through the installation of solar panels, the most common systems of natural, clean and renewable energy production. Melco, part of Rulmeca Group, managed to fulfil the power requirements of Germiston factory in South Africa through the installation of 682 solar panels equal to 1500m² and a power of 250kW AC at peak. Not only that. Even the Italian company Rulli Rulmeca S.p.a., which had been previously equipped with solar panels to partially cover the factory, decided to expand the existing plant. Now, the factory in Almè, Bergamo, has 1392 solar panels covering 7350m2 and providing a total power of 396,36kW. The collected data so far and the estimated data for this year about total energy consumption and self-produced energy support the new goal of the company of further increasing the available surface with solar panels.
